Winter Triathlon for Children in Need

Friday 13th November was not so unlucky for Children in Need, BBC Radio Scotland's presenter Fiona Stalker took on the challenge to complete her first open water triathlon, in November!

At 2pm on Friday 13th November, Fiona and her fellow triathletes, from Fleet Feet Triathlon Club, took to the water for the start of their triathlon challenge. The loch was at 4 degrees and consequently the swim course

was set to 250 meters (originally 500m), a challenge to most even in the summer. After the swim, there was a small pause as Fiona was interviewed live on radio Scotland before the team headed out on the bike for a 10k ride around the Knockburn site. To finish the challenge the athletes ran a 5k run following the same run course that was used for the Scottish Sprint Triathlon Championships earlier in the year.

The challenge was to finish, and what a challenge that was considering the time of year! Between BBC Radio Scotland and Fleet Feet over £2500 has been raised. Well done team.... top effort!

There is a podcast of the Saturday morning 'Out of doors show' where the Radio Scotland team conducted interviews with the Knockburn Site Manager and some of Fleet Feet's finest (craziest) female triathletes.
