Summer of Triathlon

Although the summer weather has not really materialised, competitors and like certainly have. Not only have we had great racing and attendance at the events, but there has been a great increase in numbers that are ussing our facilities for training.

There has been two open water coached session run by the Scottish Swimming and Triathlon Scotland, open to all with participants, young traveling from all over Scotland to take part.

Scottish Sprint Championship.

Fleet Feet Triathlon club successfully hosted the 2015 Scottish Sprint Triathlon Championships. Making use of the new loch extension to allow the swim course to be one lap and a new variation of the run course to ensure good racing, and to be spectator friendly. Competitors traveled from all over Scotland to contest the championships. A big well done to all those that took part. Results can be found here.

Fleet Feet Standard Distance Triathlon.

A favorite in the local race calendar, we saw many of the local triathletes taking part. Local triathlete Phil Edgley, won this years race on the new course, setting the bar high for future years. The course made the use of the loch extension allowing 2 identical laps making up the 1500 meter swim and we saw a run course incorporating the trails on site and the lower section of the Kerloch track. Results can be found here.

Fleet Feet TriStars Event.

New for 2015, Fleet Feet hosted a youth event making the use of the loch extension and cycle track. Local and national young triathletes hotly contested the event. Fleet Feet TriStars is an up and coming triathlon club, under the wing of the senior section of the club, they have seen increase in participation and it is clear there is some great talent emerging from this highly motivated group. Results can be found here.

Bert's family Triathlon.

Rounding off the triathlon season, in its second year, Bert's Family triathlon took place in mid August seeing over 100 people take part, 60 of them being kids. This event was hosted by Bert and was free of charge. Money was raised for 'Cash for Kids', raising a grand total of £1478.
